“Belief Systems Around the World”
Christianity — Love One Another
Christians follow Jesus and believe in a single God. They attend church and read the Bible. Large-scale holidays? Easter and Christmas. Key points? Forgiveness, love, and assisting others.
Islam — Pray, Fast, Give
Muslims hold that Allah is the only God. They adhere to the Quran and Prophet Muhammad. During Ramadan, they fast and offer five daily prayers. It is very important to give to the poor.
Hinduism — Many Gods, Many Colors
Hindus believe in karma (do good, get good) and a multitude of gods. They use colour, lights, and music to celebrate. Consider Holi and Diwali. It’s happy and meaningful.
Buddhism — Be Calm, Be Kind
Buddhists adhere to the teachings of the Buddha. They are not very devout. Rather, they emphasise kindness, meditation, and peace. Don’t shout. Breathe deeply and calmly.
Judaism — Oldest Belief Still Going Strong
Jews observe the Torah and believe in a single God. They commemorate Passover and Hanukkah. Learning and family are important. Asking lots of questions is also important!
Indigenous Beliefs — Nature Is Alive
Indigenous people think that there are spirits in the natural world. Rivers, trees, and animals all have significance. Traditions are preserved through songs and stories. It’s about balance and respect.
Atheism and Humanism — Be Good Without Gods
Some people don’t think there is a god. They have faith in facts, people, and kindness. That’s humanism or atheism. Good people without religion.
What’s the Point?
Despite their differences, belief systems all teach the same lesson: Be kind. Assist others. Don’t be cruel. Perhaps eat your vegetables as well.
